Overview:

Simply put we are looking for a PASSIONATE registered dietician (RD or RDN) who is interested in helping us build our Metabolic Health and Weight Management Program.  RD would work closely with Dr. Trujillo who is family physician/ obesity medicine specialist. Dr. Trujillo focuses mainly on intensive lifestyle interventions to help patients of all ages address their weight and chronic disease. Applicant must be open to dietary approaches that may not align with government guidelines, formal RD training, food pyramid, and mainstream ideations. We focus mainly on low carbohydrate and high fat (ketogenic) lifestyles but aim to personalize this to each individual. Many other approaches are also utilized. Applicant does not initially have to be well versed in a ketogenic lifestyle but must be prepared to actively pursue further education in this area with Dr. Trujillo's guidance. Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Educating patients on foundational basics of nutrition
  • Educating patients on numerous diet approaches (Ketogenic, LCHF, Paleo, Whole Foods, Mediterranean and others)
  • Assist in personalizing nutrition plans to unique individuals and food tolerances
  • Assist in developing educational resources for patients
  • Promote nutrition through patient interactions, group visits, and social media group
  • Educating on numerous health topics (diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, gastrointestinal disorders, and sport nutrition)
  • Obtaining detailed dietary history
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Assists in projects to help promote and build metabolic health program
  • Continually striving to learn and broaden knowledge base (books, conferences, journal articles...)
  • Provide personal or phone follow-up with patients as needed
  • Act as a patient advocate and nutritional resource

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Completed educational program in dietetics and/or nutrition that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)
  • Associated required dietetic internship
  • Certified Registered Dietician (RD) or Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN)
  • Prior experience in clinical nutrition preferred but not mandatory

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Mostly sedentary work, requiring lifting up to 10lbs
  • Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment
  • Inside, climate-controlled working conditions
